TTB’s 3 Fascinating Facts: Melrose

‘While helping out his humans on their day trip to Melrose in the Scottish Borders, the Travel Bug managed to uncover these fascinating facts…’

Robert the Bruce

The heart of Robert the Bruce, once King of Scotland, is buried in Melrose Abbey.  The rest of him lies in Dunfermline Abbey in Fife.  TTB would like all of him to be buried in the same place.  He doesn’t want his shell to be buried separately from the rest of him.

Teddy Bears

Melrose is home to Scotland’s first teddy bear museum.  TTB doesn’t much like teddy bears as he doesn’t want to be competing with anything else to go travelling with his humans.

Rugby Sevens

Melrose is the birthplace of Scotland’s famous rugby sevens competition, which is hotly contested every year from teams throughout the UK.   Travel Bug’s humans say he looks a bit like a rugby ball…

Do you have any other fascinating facts about Melrose to share with the Travel Bug?
