Las Vegas: TTB's 3 Fascinating Facts

Las Vegas: TTB’s 3 Fascinating Facts

‘The Travel Bug has landed in Las Vegas! He’s got a shell stuffed with quarters and he’s ready to hit the slots on The Strip…’

Travel Bug had promised to be in bed by 10pm.  However,  he spotted his humans at the hotel bar drinking cocktails, so he reckons he’ll have some time to fly around Las Vegas before they notice he’s gone.  This is what he found out while flying along The Strip…

Most of The Strip and its most famous hotels are not actually in Las Vegas. The Strip is actually located in a place called Paradise, Nevada, which is a township just outside the city.  This also included the McCarran Airport and the University.   Not many people know this and TTB is on a mission to make sure humans (and bugs) find out.

Nuclear Weapons

A long time before the desert in Las Vegas was famous for gambling, it used to attract tourist to watch the nuclear weapon tests that were conducted there.  TTB doesn’t quite understand this and likes Vegas much better with 24-hour casinos and $6 margaritas.

Dodgy Betting

The Travel Bug’s human Dad is a Doctor, so he was a bit worried when he found out that medical staff in a local hospital were once suspended for betting.  They weren’t betting on blackjack, however….they were betting on when their patients would die.  It was also thought that a few of the patients had some *assistance* to expire on time.

TTB thinks he probably won’t sleep next to his Dad for a while.  He’ll also be looking through his pockets when he gets home tonight…just to be on the safe side.

Do you have any other fascinating facts about Las Vegas to share with The Travel Bug?

Hasta pronto, amigos!
