TTB’s 3 Fascinating Facts about Las Vegas

The Travel Bug has landed in Las Vegas! He’s got a shell stuffed with quarters and he’s ready to hit the slots.

He had promised to be in bed by 10pm, but he spotted his humans at the bar drinking cocktails, so he reckons he’ll have some extra fact finding time…

This is what he found out while flying along The Strip:

* Most of The Strip and the most famous hotels around are not actually *in* Las Vegas.  They’re in a place called Paradise, Nevada, which is a township just outside.

This also includes McCarran Airport and the University.   Not many know this and TTB is on a mission to make sure people (and bugs) find out.

* Before the desert in Las Vegas was synonymous with gambling, it used to attract tourists to watch the nuclear weapons tests that were conducted there.  TTB doesn’t quite understand this and likes Vegas much better with 24-hour casinos and $6 margaritas.

* The Travel Bug’s human Dad is a Dr, so he was shocked to find out that, in the early 1980s, medical staff at a local hospital were suspended for betting on when their patients would die. It was also alleged that a couple had some ‘assistance’ to expire on time.

The Travel Bug thinks he might not snooze with his Dad from now on. He’ll also be looking through his pockets for betting slips when he gets home tonight…just in case.

Do you have any fascinating facts about Las Vegas for The Travel Bug???

Hasta pronto, mi amigos…
