‘Travel Bug and his humans have just touched down in the capital of Tirol in Austria. Our little explorer flew off over the Alps to uncover 3 fascinating facts about Innsbruck…’
Winter Olympics
Innsbruck is one of only ten cities in the world to have hosted the Winter Olympics twice. it was first held in the city in 1964 and again in 1976. It even held the junior WO in 2012. Travel Bug likes the Winter Olympics, but he’d prefer it if they moved it somewhere a bit warmer…
For Whom The Bell Tolls…
Innsbruck’s Cathedral, called St Jacob (named after Travel Bug’s dog, he thinks…) has an interesting feature in that its bell doesn’t toll at noon every day or even 1pm, but at 12:12pm.
Alpenzoo
Innsbruck has a zoo, which is located at a height of 2,461ft. This makes it the highest in all of Europe. Travel Bug thinks this means there’s less chance of any animals escaping and looking for bugs to eat on the streets…
Do you have any other fascinating facts about Innsbruck to share with Travel Bug??
